I guess I have to delete one entry from my previous wanna-work-list – Adobe just bought Macromedia! Now one of the most innovative and web-focused companies around is owned by a print-gigant failing to be a web-company for years. GREAT!
I always respected Macromedia for not misusing their monopol in Flash-Technology, staying in close contact with its users and developers, and always astonishing us with new advances (AS2, FlashPaper, 8Ball). I guess these times are over. Some other voices:
April 19th, 2005 at 01:38 AM Bad news! I waited for your comment all day long. I also was shocked and disappointed. What will a company like Adobe do with such an important thing like Flash? But on the other hand, maybe the Flash-Plugin and development on Mac-Versions are taking a bigger step further with next releases. We are waiting for that for quite a long time, don't we? ;) But something that surely isn't an advantage, is to get one monopol company instead of two competing companies working on their products. That counts for every example you can imagine. We'll see. Lucky me, I didn't chose the Webdeveloping way and I'm quite sure Photoshop will survive for Compositing and general Design. :) At least Apple and Discreet have good news. I'm looking forward to Final Cut Studio, Shake 4 and Combustion 4 from Discreet. :)
